Overall the audience response has been extremely positive and successful. They found that we have exceeded a high level of an excitable and enthusiastic music video.
They have distinguished the key genre of 'hip-pop/rap' instantly, due to a variety of aspects we used to show this. Firstly the contrasting colors yellow, pink, green emphasis the upbeat and funky side to the genre. The styling of make-up and costume which was seen as 'thinking outside the box' due to the gold and blue lipstick suggesting we have broke the sterotypical 'pop/rap video' to make it our own and more original. Another aspect of the video was shown through the attitude of the performer which was shown through the facial expression and the eye contact with the camera showing confidence and boldness, this was important as the audience was aimed at teenage girls and for our video to inspire the audience it is imperative that we show life. The technical side, which included the specific editing skills such as, jerked movements at suitable points along with reduced speed to create dramatic intentions on the audience. Also the multi-colored lighting used to emphasis the ‘pop’ theme.
We have discovered that the majority of the audience have commented on the same critical features. The minimal use of close-up shots was highlighted, as they thought it would feel more effective and more polished. Taking this on board we then took a risk shortly before the dead line to gain more of an effective and positive responce from the audience and feeding them what they wanted. In oder for us to do this, we used several shots of the 'lips' as an extreme close-up and black and white faded close-ups. This overall we thought was important for us to do as we also thought it would increase our grade by responding to the feedback. The audience also notified the lack of movement, so in order to do this we used hand held camera to suggest a rushed and upbeat effect to the audience. This also emphasised movement and related back to the background beat of the song.
The audience also found it to be original as one viewer who is not familiar with this genre describes it as ‘chav-like’ but yet very ‘enjoyable’ to watch. Additionally, we have also found a large audience base of teenage girls who related well to the attitude and style we portrayed in the video, we have videoed one girl ( Catrione Fitzgerald) on her thoughts and opinions. We thought that overall our video would be very inspiring towards the teenagers and we wanted them to relate to this. I personally think they can relate to it as we stayed close to home, we used art walls and worked in built up areas relating back to the artist herself as she was from the 'streets' and the audience can also see that the artists are no different to the audience.
