Notes to fans from Kreyshawn
At the age of 5 I wrote and performed my own song. When I was around 9yrs old I had a step dad who was a rapper/DJ. That's when all hell broke loose. Nothing has ever stopped. I just recently been sharing my music and little did I know. You muthaf***as are as crazy as me.
Space shit space sh**, bi*ch f**k relationships

Whoooooodiie woo
I tell myself i’m not gonna be a lazy h*e and blog more but, I have to make a note to do this. I just smoke too much weed.
I don't like being ignored, and i don't like being forgotten .
Can't have no quiet b*tches on the team. She has to party, she has to drink, she's gotta smoke weed. Because if you don't, we're not even on the same plane
I am a piece of sh*t, but I am raw talent

Editing the CD cover.
We started the creation of the CD cover by cropping our background image to a 12cm x 12cm page.
We then used the magnetic lasso tool to select the image of the star with no background so we could move her to the background easily.

We then put them to the same screen which would allow us to begin editing them.

We made the background black and white and added a cut out filter which gave it an almost cartoon effect.

For the image of the star we added a black and white adjustment layer.

Using the adjustment layer we were able to erase some of the effect in order to reveal areas of colour underneath.

Finally we added the text which made the overall effect more professional

Answers to the Questionaire by Matthew Miller
2. I think this would appeal to a chav market because she has that sort of 'gangster style'
3. yes i believe that through the multi coloured editing and through the shots where the performers look was visible it realy established the genre also, the way the performer carried herself through facial expressions and movement.
4. It reflected well through the costumes as it showed her abstract personality which related back to the genre. The use of the bright bold lipsticks throughout conveyed her unique personality.
5. Yes, the grafiti wall cononoted her creative attitude.
6. Yes there was a good variety.
7. I think there could have been a few more close ups and maybe more of the birdseye view.
8. The lip syncing was well synced and i liked the fact it jumps on 'bumpin' yet maintained the fluency.
9. I think that the video shows team work and preparation and it was realy well directed.
10. More Shots + a better song :p hehe

Questionaire
7. What shots do you think we should have included more of?
8. What did you make of the lip syncing?
Front CD Pannel Experimentation
We decided this was the most effective CD cover. Once we turned the background balck and white we used a cutout filter in order to make it look a little cartoon like. we then added the main image and put on a black and white adjustment layer which allowed us to use the eraser to show the colour of the top nails and lips.
This was our second attempt at the star being all in colour while the background was black and white the main difference between this and the first is we used a filter on the background which we thought would be more effective.
This was our second attempt at the star being in black and white except her top while the background was black and white the main difference between this and the first is we used a filter on the background which we thought would be more effective.
This was a little more complex version as all we did was made the background and the star black and white, we then added colour to the stars top.
This was a simple version as all we did was made the background black and white, other than that there is no editing.

analysing a CD cover - Lady GaGa

Cd Advert

This is a CD advert of Keshas’ album which was used for a billboard. He stylises in the genre of R’n’B, as she is originally an American singer-songwriter and rapper. Instantly we see the poster is very noticeable, from the capitalized, jagged font and the contracts of black and bright pink. It allows the poster to become very noticeable, to attract the audience. The contrast between the capitalized font and the lower case font, directs the audience to look at the important parts of the poster. For instance, we see “ANIMAL” is capitalized where as “debut album” remains in lower case. This is because ‘Animal’ is the album name, which would be more important to the viewers than knowing it is a debut album. The photography used in the cover is also very stylized, it shows personality as it is not shown as the ‘perfect professional’ everyday picture that we see on an album cover. This separates her from any other artist and shows her originality.

Experimentation that didn't work
We tried a lot of different shots, locations and costumes, some of which didn't work how we would've hoped and so we left these shots out the video. Some locations didn't work because they didn't quite fit with the theme of the rest of the video for example We tried doing some filming in a more natural location but as the rest of the video was based in the city centre it didn't fit. We thought it would be a nice place to film as it was right next to the motorway and would show the mixture of locations in the city centre but the way we placed the camera caused the shot to only show the natural location and when we tried to fit it into the video it looked out of place.
Some o
ther locations we tried were more like the rest of the video but were either filled with too many other people or had a light glare. We also found that in these shots the main character was wearing a costume that had frequently been featured in the video and so w thought we should use some that mix up the style a little more.It was not only some locations that we tried that didn't work but also some locations for example we used a costume that was too big for that star and it looked slightly odd. We also had some shots in the studio that didn't work because they were wearing black leggings on a black background. We decided not to use these shots because we thought they wouldn't work with the rest of the video and the steriotypes we tried to use.

Transition from AS
For our As work, we were asked to create an opening for a film, this was nothing compared to the challenges we faced in the A2 production, first of all, when creating a music video, there is not as much range and use of imagination compared to creating an opening to a film, You always have to consider how the shot will fit into the video and if it will work with the other shots you have created. You also have to take lip-syncing into account, which made the editing more difficult as well. This meant we needed a lot more planning and we couldn’t have as strict a shot list as it was subject to change a lot more than a simple narrative video. Another challenge we faced is that the music video is longer than the opening to the film, so we needed to be out filming as much as we possibly could as insufficient film was not acceptable as we needed over an hour of film to make sure we had enough film to edit down to three minutes. In the A2 project, I have realised that you are more advanced on your shot taking skills so there are more challenging angles used. For example we attempted a birds eye shot of the star but found it was not very effective. Some of the things we learnt to do at AS were not necessary for A2 for example the 180 degree rule, as continuity is not as important in a quick cut music video. In the A2 video we also attempted some freehand shots that we didn’t even attempt during AS however they didn’t work brilliantly and so we decided to leave them out. The tripod is a big help as we can create many different heights and pans using it. During the AS project we did use a lot more close ups than we did in the A2 project. The editing pro
cess of the A2 work is so much more challenging, as you have to edit and match the lip syncing to the correct millisecond in the song, this was redeemed as very challenging task for the group as it made us change other sections in the video to make sure the video has good continuity and a smooth transition, The film in As had a lot of challenges which included getting the balance of dialog and a non-diagetic score panned correctly, where in A2, no dialog is used so we were rest assured by that fact. Another daunting task we have to complete in A2 in which we did not in AS is to create a poster and C.D cover for the song, this challenge was completed after the cameras stopped rolling.
